WE ARE SORRY TO DISAPPOINT ALL THOSE VIEWERS AND GUESTS WHO HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH THIS COTTAGE BUT IT IS UNAVAILABLE FOR BOOKING IN 2008. PLEASE INSTEAD CHECK OUT THE DETAILS OF OUR 3 OTHER LOVELY PROPERTIES AND SEE WHICH APPEALS TO YOU THE MOST. IF THE LOCATION OF MIDCROSSWOOD HAS WON YOUR HEART, PLEASE RETURN TO THIS WEBSITE LATER THIS YEAR AND HOPEFULLY YOU WILL BE IN FOR A VERY PLEASANT SURPRISE. Sleeps 5 First choice for those who prefer sheep, rabbits and even cows to human neighbours. Set in splendid isolation half a mile up a good farm track (with maybe 2 to 3 gates to open), this detached, single-storey traditional stone cottage and byre was beautifully converted in 1994. Old and new blend well: original pine doors, new maple floors, velux roof lights, elm shutters and patio doors. There is warmth, space and light. Step from the cottage onto the hills. Perhaps watch the shepherd at work in the adjacent sheep pens. Relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity against the backdrop of the moors and hills unfolding from your doors. Stargaze at night. And next morning smile as rabbits or hares, oblivious to your watching inside, scamper just yards away from you on the grass outside. Midcrosswood's Visitors' Books are full of recordings of happy experiences, from lambs or even calves being born close outside the window. Here's a quote from a honeymoon couple: "The most memorable moment was waking our first morning to cows moo-ing outside our bedroom door and 2 small calves with their noses against our patio bedroom door! Totally melted me! " (There are voile curtains and shutters for those who want them! ) Upgrade in June 2005! If this scenario, magical for most of our guests, is not for you, please think about choosing one of our other less bucolic or pastoral cottages! Midcrosswood does not have an enclosed playing area for children, just acres of hill, streams and fields. It is this wonderful feeling of wide open spaces up at Midcrosswood that brings back guests year after year. Layout: Large living-room with multi-fuel stove for ambience. Spacious kitchen, utility room. Leading off a back corridor are three bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with twin beds, both with patio doors to hillside. The third small bedroom has a single bed. Two bathrooms with W.C's and basins, one with power shower cabinet, one with bath. Full oil-fired central heating.
