Comments The
Wing of the Farmhouse at Crosswoodhill [see
cottages]
"The Wing offers far more than expected! Inside and outside the place has a unique atmosphere, calm surroundings and an open friendly scenery making the perfect frame for family holidays. Unlike the weather your welcome was warm and with real hospitality, G. We hope to return." (Norway) "When we booked this place for our holidays we had no idea we would be visiting the second Eden. But truly after touring much of Europe, Russia, Canada, Nova Scotia, Mexico, etc. there is no place more beautiful and peaceful than Crosswoodhill Farm. You are to be congratulated with all the devoted hard work, planning and successful expectation of every conceivable detail to insure guests of so enjoyable a haven. It's heaven." (USA)
"Here again.. and again.. and again! The atmosphere and hospitality continue to be wonderful." (UK) "Too short a stay for such a great find." (USA) "The house certainly has something for everyone. Incredibly well thought out to make a real "home from home" and plenty to keep the younger element happy while the adults get on!" (UK) "The house has everything we needed and much more. The children absolutely loved all the different toys and games. All the tourist information was really helpful; we've never had anything like as much before. A week just isn't enough, we didn't want to leave, especially the children." (UK) "Wish I could live here! A dream place with everything I could possibly want. Thanks, G, for making everything just so." (UK) Steading
Cottage [see

"We would love to pick the cottage up and take it with us as it is so comfortable and spacious, but it wouldn't then be in lovely Scotland , would it? Thanks to G for thinking of all those little things that give it the personal touch. If you left something at home I'm sure a spare is here." (UK) "The attention to detail and all the thoughtful little touches made us feel like "guests" in the purest sense of the word. Best of all was listening to the children's whoops of delight as they discovered each new treasure Steading Cottage has to offer! We are fairly experienced self-caterers but Steading Cottage really is in a different league." (UK)
"What can I say? This place is fantastic. We spent 95% of our time in this gorgeous cottage and found absolutely everything catered for. We felt really at home." (UK) "Wow! This sure beats staying in a hotel. So comfortable and warm, so easy and practical, we needed to force ourselves out to sight-see." (USA) "The cottage was perfect by everything I could tell from G's web pages and it turned out to far exceed my expectations. It is so wonderfully comfortable that at times a person gives serious consideration to not leaving ever." (Canada) "It has all been said before but I think G's "odds and ends" drawer epitomised her commitment to hospitality and her guests' comfort - emergency phone money, sewing kit, international adaptor, screw driver, string, etc." (UK) "In common with all the previous guests we loved the cottage and found everything we could possibly need already here. The 2 older boys loved looking into the barn from the window at the cows and were thrilled when the tractors appeared." (Canada) "Our stay at Steading cottage was like a long dream - one that you wish would not end. (USA) Midcrosswood Cottage [see cottages] "We'd been looking for a place we could just be, without needing to go out every day on trips. somewhere we could just relax and be away from it all. Midcrosswood fulfilled our dreams in every way." (UK honeymooners) "I have seen sheep, early lambs, Canada geese, curlews, rabbits, pheasants and the odd buzzard, all in the space of half an hour. A very special place." (UK) "We had a magical week and want to come back again and again and again. Kirsten (13) said she could stay here forever, a sentiment we all shared." (UK) M arvellous moorland views
"What a perfect retreat! So close to the most densely populated area of Scotland and yet all you can see from the windows is hills and sheep and cows." (UK) "G's website sets a range of high expectations. They were all exceeded with ease and we would have no hesitation in recommending Midcrosswood to anyone." (UK guests) "After a splendid week of walking in the Highlands our "return to civilisation" as we drove through West Calder made us nervous that indeed our holiday was over. To our fabulous surprise, as we caught our first glimpse of Midcrosswood, we were blissfully pleased that the best was yet to come. The serenity and rest we have experienced here on the farm will stay with us for many months to come." (UK) "Starry nights overhead, gazing through the skylights I was awakened with twinkles overhead, got up, wandered out front and had the "star show". The entire week we were here the surprises and senses of wonder were round every corner. A truly memorable time. We will take back a little piece of this quiet in our hearts and enjoy it always." (USA) "Midcrosswood is an absolutely
amazing place! Not only the surrounding scenery of Scottish hills but the
cottage also. The website pictures don't do justice to the actual place." (USA) "Arrived to find the most beautiful setting anyone could have hoped for. After a long drive we were so happy to have the privilege to stay in such a fantastic place." (UK guests) "Orlege End is a delight - like something out of Grand Designs, only better" (Canada) " What a joy! This takes self-catering to a completely new height." ( Bev Brown, journalist, writing in the "Property Ladder" magazine.) "The perfect getaway. It was quite surreal to be reading about Orlege in a double page feature article in Scotland on Sunday magazine on the plane up and then be sleeping here the very next night! It has been a real pleasure. You can be justifiably proud of all that you have achieved here!" (guests from Scotland and France) "It's refreshing to find a holiday "cottage" that shows the quality of contemporary design available in Scotland , and has incredible character! A place of tranquillity. I'd be more than happy to return." (Fiona Reid, journalist writing in Scotland on Sunday : this is her comment in Orlege Visitors' Book) And in her article, she wrote: "One of the most surprising things about turning up here is that Orlege doesn't feel like holiday accommodation at all but rather a highly characterful and contemporary home." "Loved the space and open countryside. "G" was always on hand, however little the question was. Everything we needed was here, wellies, games for the children and a cosy living room for all. Lovely walks around the farm, sheep and cows to see and watch. so much to see and do around the area, we have to come back again. More like a 7 STAR haven. What a place to be proud of! (UK) "Stunning, stunning, stunning
and finished and furnished beautifully. Orlege has absolutely everything
you could need for a most relaxing break away." "Bring nothing but your tooth brush - this luxury hideaway has everything you can think of! Wonderful location, warm and welcoming hosts and an absolute dream of a cottage. I can't recommend it more highly." (Authoress from Ghana) "It’s a peaceful, beautiful, secluded hideaway, That’s Orlege End, the Bailey family would say, The cottage has stunning oakwood floors And fantastic thought-out patio doors Orlege is worthy of its Scottish Tourist Board Seal And so is the rest of the picturesque Crosswoodhill, The cottage is a tribute to G and Hew’s design The fixtures and fittings are oh! so refine There’s even a cupboard that converts to a bed, “We’re sleeping here! “ Hollie and Sophie said, Do you believe, there’s a remote control blind, This was a fantastic cottage in Scotland to find. There’s everything available from linen to pots, Two lovely bathrooms and granite worktops, A courtyard and plenty of space for cars, If it was an option, it deserves six stars! " ( UK ) "Christmas away from home with no stresses and strains and …. A fantastic place to stay! The house is beautiful, the welcome just perfect and everything else was just perfect too. On top of all this was Edinburgh on the doorstep. A delight." (UK) "An amazing stay. Beautiful sunlight and full moon scenery. Fantastic cottage with everything you need to feel home from home. What a wonderful place to spend our first week together as husband and wife on honeymoon. Coming back – again and again!"
